Idle Cat Gunner Save Data: Browser Storage & Progress

Understand Idle Cat Gunner browser saves versus favorites, and what to check when progress is missing or you change devices.

CatGunner editorial teamUpdated: For the browser edition on this site

Where Idle Cat Gunner saves progress

The browser edition on catgunner.games stores game progress in this device’s browser. Return with the same website address, browser and browser profile to read that save. Website language changes use the same game entry and do not create separate save slots.

The website does not provide account-based cloud saves, save export or a server-side recovery service. A local save should not be treated as a cross-device backup.

Favorites are shortcuts, not save backups

“Save game” on the website adds the game to your favorites. It does not upload or back up stages, coins, weapons or equipment. Recently played history records a game visit, not the contents of your game save.

The homepage and dedicated play page use the same game entry, so you can return through either on the same site. Favoriting the game again cannot restore missing progress.

What can make an existing save unavailable

  • Clearing cookies and site data for catgunner.games, or using a cleanup tool that removes website storage.
  • Moving to another device, browser or browser profile.
  • Using a private browsing session whose stored data disappears when the session ends.
  • Opening another website address, even if its game looks the same.

Keep this in mind before using browser cleanup options. Deleting site data and refreshing the page are different actions; do not delete data just because a loading screen takes longer than expected.

Check missing progress without deleting anything

  1. Confirm that the address is catgunner.games and that you are using the device you played on before.
  2. Check the browser profile. A second profile in the same browser has separate website data.
  3. If you used a private window, check whether the original session still exists. Opening a new private session may not retain it.
  4. Wait for the game to finish loading before checking stages, coins and equipment. A failed connection does not itself prove the save has been erased.
  5. Keep the original browser data intact while investigating, and close extra play tabs.

If you still have the original browser or profile, preserve it. If its site data was already removed and there is no separate backup, the website cannot promise recovery of that progress.

Before changing devices or clearing website data

Expect a new browser or device to have a separate game state. There is currently no website login that transfers the old save. A screenshot of your stage or inventory can help describe a problem, but it is not an importable save file.

If you use a browser cleanup tool, check which site data it removes before continuing. We do not recommend copying or modifying browser storage through developer tools as a general recovery method.

Loading, sound and support

For loading errors, follow the beginner’s troubleshooting steps and try the play page’s reload control before changing stored data. The speaker button below the game controls sound; a remembered mute setting does not mean game progress is missing.

When contacting support, include the page address, browser, device, whether the browser profile changed and when the progress was last visible. Do not email a full browser profile or private browser files. This information helps investigate the problem; it does not create a cloud backup or guarantee recovery.
